Kopites - Class of 2011
Pemain muda Liverpool banyak mendapat pujian terutama pada musim 2011 sehingga Pep Guardiola turut memuji akademi Liverpool yang diterajui oleh Rodolfo Borell. Mungkin inilah legasi yang ditinggalkan oleh Rafa Benitez.
Apa yang diharapkan adalah pemain muda ini dapat diberi peluang oleh Kenny Dalglish pada musim hadapan. Jack Robinson dan John Flanagan antara pemain muda yang diberi peluang dan menonjol pada musim lepas. Untuk musim depan aku nak sangat tengok Suso main.

Kopites-Xabi Alonso Miss Playing With Liverpool
“It was difficult because Liverpool has been and always will be very special. It is in my heart because I have lived very intense things there. It was really difficult to tell the fans what my decision was, but sometimes you have to follow your feelings and that was my feeling at that moment.
“The fans always made it very clear what they wanted and the support I had from the first day I arrived to the last day was absolutely top and I can’t have any complaints about that. But it was my decision and my feeling.”
“It was quite a long summer with so many meetings, so many talks and so many rumours,” he said. “I would have preferred to say goodbye properly, like so many other teammates had already done, but because of the circumstances it didn’t happen.”
“Since I arrived I have known so many big, big legends as Kenny, Hansen, Souness, Fowler, Stevie, Carra – these will be forever. Sami Hyypia as well, for me he was a big example and someone I learned a lot from. I don’t think I belong there but if I am a step below them I am happy to be there.
“Stevie and Carra are very good friends. They were good teammates because from the first day I felt I got on with them well. The importance they had in the changing room, it was very important for me to have a good relationship with them. Being from Liverpool, knowing how things were at that moment and winning the Champions League in the first year made the relationship stronger. That is why they are still very good friends.
“I always had full respect for Liverpool before I signed because I had heard all the stories and the tradition that they had. But once you are involved, if you like football and like the passion from the fans and the important things that matter in football then you will love Liverpool. That is what it is all about, about football, about respecting the game and about supporting the team and you can live that in Liverpool better than anywhere else.”
“At the beginning of the season I was feeling for the players because you could see things were not going very well and confidence was low at that moment. But things changed, the club settled down with new ownership. With Kenny’s arrival the belief and the confidence of the team looks much better. I am looking forward to next season. It looks like it can be a good season.”
“It’s another stage of my professional career and I am enjoying it so far,” he says. “We are challenging for big things and you want to be at a professional club. So far we are fighting against a great team like Barcelona, they are making it more difficult to win La Liga, for example, but that makes it a greater challenge than it already was.
“I want La Liga because that’s the only trophy I don’t have and is the one I am missing. I missed it in Liverpool and hopefully I will be able to make it in Madrid. The Champions League is obviously the Champions League, but I want La Liga.
“I am happy here. It’s a big club, we have a great manager and a good team. It’s been a very intense season. The cup final against Barcelona was really hard, the Champions League semi-final games against them were hard as well, but we kept fighting, but at the end we couldn’t make it. Even just winning the cup, we are not absolutely pleased with the season but we feel we have progressed and are looking forward to next season.”

Xabi Alonso-Istanbul & leaving Liverpool
Speaking of the Barry saga and his relationship with Benitez, Alonso said:
“At the end of that season, speaking to Rafa, he told me the situation and that he wanted to sign other players and I could be one of the replacements,” he explained. “If an offer would have come, probably I would have been sold. That’s when I told myself that the situation had changed – from being a very important player to being one of those who can be sold to get funds to sign other players. I accepted it because I am a professional but you have to realise what your situation is. At the end nothing happened because there was no agreement and we started my last season in Liverpool, but knowing what had happened.
“I had to take it from their point of view. We knew what had happened and once we knew I was going to stay, if the manager was going to pick me then I was going to play as well as possible. There were no personal problems, it was a professional relationship.
“I didn’t feel I had a point to prove. I knew what I was capable of giving to the team and what I had given for the four years – and then the last one. In the last one the team was really good, we were winning so many games, beating the top teams home and away and that made a big difference. Because of the silly draws we got at home at the beginning of the season, that’s probably why we didn’t win the Premier League. We felt we had a very good team, we were very competitive and it was a disappointment not to win the league.
“I didn’t know what would happen but at the end of the season, knowing what had happened, I felt if another option was to come I needed to take another step in my career. It was very difficult to take that decision, but it was probably for the best for me because I was not comfortable with that situation and if I had stayed another season it would have been uncomfortable for me.
“I was really happy with the team and my teammates and felt that we could do great things. I was happy on that side but within a club you have to see the big picture and another season would have been too much for me.
“As soon as the season finished I talked to the manager. I knew that maybe Madrid were coming and I said if the terms were good then I wanted to leave.”
If the bad feeling surrounding the Barry saga and his relationship with Benitez was the lowlight of Alonso’s Liverpool career then the glory of lifting the European Cup in Istanbul must be the highlight. The Spanish playmaker spoke glowingly to liverpoolfc.tv about the triumph and it is through this that you can see just how high a regard Alonso holds the fans and the entire club.
Xabi’s cultured passing, reading of the game and composure had been just one of many reasons why Liverpool were able to reach the Champions League final in 2005 and it was his goal that completed that memorable comeback in which the Reds scored 3 times in six second-half minutes to cancel out AC Milan’s 3-0 lead.
It is a match that Liverpool’s fans still can’t believe happened and the memories will forever live in the minds of all those who watched it live or on TV and Alonso is no different, speaking of his Istanbul experience he said:
“To lift that trophy in the first season was a dream come true. We were lucky to live so many big nights on the way to Istanbul, like Olympiacos, Chelsea, Juventus – those were fantastic nights and it was the perfect start for many of us.
“It was a crazy night because we were so enthusiastic before the game but the first half was really tough and really difficult to take, but the team spirit was high and we kept believing, even when it was mission impossible. But we made it and in six minutes scored three goals against a top team like Milan with so much experience. It was a miracle. After scoring the third goal you had the feeling our name was written on the trophy.
“Look at the pictures and my face tells everything before taking that penalty. The responsibility, the tense look. It was more than nerves, it was about the responsibility. It was one of the biggest moments of my career. I missed it but got the reward and it was probably the quickest five metres I have ever run.
“It was unbelievable afterwards. After so many years, bringing Liverpool back to where they deserved to be – you could see the faces and the happiness of the people around Liverpool and wherever we went. Sharing those moments with them was fantastic and totally unforgettable.
“It is a final in the memory of all football supporters. They have it in their mind, it was the greatest comeback ever, so wherever I go they have that memory.”

Liverpool 5 Birmingham 0 - Maxi Hatrick
Sebelum tunggu game Liverpool start, nak tak nak kena tengok game Man Utd dulu yang main awal time org sembahyang maghrib. Macam haram, memang susah la kalau nak kata Man Utd kalah. Chikaro United nie boleh gol plak. Man Utd 1 Everton 0.
Game Liverpool malam tadi best gile. Tak macam masa lawan Arsenal. Control ball semua cantik, separuh masa pertama Liverpool control possesion 78%. So aku pun dah rasa kalau main macam nie patutnya 4-0 tu ada.
Line-up Liverpool, Flannagan dengan Robinson dah jadi favourite aku. Sebelum nie aku rasa Liverpool punya full back memang masalah gile. Tackling dengan Interception memang bagus. Bahagian tengah Lucas dengan Spearing, masa lawan Arsenal memang nampak susah nak control posseion nampak Arsenal punya centre midfiled lagi power dengan Jack Wilshere. Maxi masuk ganti Andy Carrol yang injured masa lawan Arsenal.
First half Liverpool leading 2 gol Maxi dan Kuyt. Aku tak puas hati lagi, pasal aku kata patut 4-0. Second half 2 gol lagi dari Maxi untuk melengkapkan hatrik. Dah 4-0 baru la puas. Last sekali Joe Cole masuk dia tambah lagi sebijik kasi 5.

Arsenal 1 Liverpool 1
Minggu nie penat tengok bola, semua game lewat. Hari sabtu tgk City lawan Utd. Penyokong Kelantan yang menyokong Man Utd ramai yang tak tengok game malam tu sebab kecewa Kelantan kena belasalah dengan Perak. Kalau tengok jugak menambah derita sebab MU pun kalah jugak.
Pukul 4 pagi pulak El-Clasico. Real lawan Barca. Game nie aku dah tak tahan, tengok tersengok-senggpok. Game seri 1-1. Kedua-dua gol menerusi penalti. Messi amik satu, Ronaldo amik satu.
Esoknya Liverpool lawan Arsenal. 2 gol melalui penalti dalam masa tambahan. Game memang best, penyokong Arsenal dan Liverpool semua berdebar-debar. Lebih ketara adalah penyokong Arsenal yang mengaharapkan kemenangan untuk terus mengejar Man Utd. Dah masuk minit 85 masih buntu mencari gol.
Masa tambahan 8 minit yang diberi oleh pengadil selepas insiden 2 pemain Liverpool, Carragher dan Flannagan yang bertembung sesama sendiri memberi kelegaan kepada penyokong Arsenal yang terus memburu gol. Sementara Liverpool hanya terus bertahan menerima asakan Arsenal. Arsenal memperoleh penalti pada minit 98, Robin Van Persie menjaringkan gol.
Aku pun masa tu dah down giler, last minit memang kalah la. Game start balik, tunggu pengadil tiup wisel. Alih2 tak tiup2 jugak. Liverpool terus counter sampai dapat free kick betul-betul atas line kotak penalti. Kalau ikut aku memang penalti tu, apa nak buat ref bagi free kick jer. Tapi tak per pasal aku kompom Luis Suarez mesti gol. Tapi haram tak gol, down balik. Last skali terima kasih Eboue, penalti minit ke100 untuk Liverpool. Kuyt gol, settle, seri.
Apa yang aku tengok, defence Liverpool memang mantap. Lebih2 lagi 2 pemain muda yang aku tgk memang main bagus. Robinson (def left) dan Flannagan (def right). 2 orang budak nie banyak buat interception yang menyebabkan Arsenal punyer crossing tak complete. Seruisly lagi bagus daripada Glen Johnson. Arsenal punyer midfield mantap, Liverpool macam haram tak dapat nak control ball.
6 point dengan Man Utd, Arsenal masih boleh kejar. Yang paling penting game lawan Man Utd kena menang. Kalau tak menang, tak payah la nak membebel pasal gol Liverpool.

1. Andy Carroll first goal with Liverpool dan second goal menyusul kemudian
2. Andy Carroll dah gol tapi Fernando Torres tak gol-gol lagi.
3. John Flannagan muncul buat pertama kali sebagai right defender dan bermain sangat baik. Lagi bagus dari Glen Johnsen.
